Doctor Stange in the Multiverse of Madness is set in the same universe as the recently released Disney and Marvel Studios projects. The film is supposedly going to deal with the ramifications of the multiverse concept in Spider-Man No Way Home. Many anticipate that this is how Marvel will be bringing in the often requested X-Men and Fantastic Four.

The two new posters features Doctor Strange and Scarlet Witch in the Sanctum Sanctorum, floating and preparing to unleash their power. Fans also get a new look at Scarlet Witch’s outfit, which was first introduced in WandaVision and more accurately reflects the comic book version of the suit. Clearly, Doctor Strange 2 will no doubt have a lot to handle when it comes to dealing with the amount of characters available in the Marvel Cinematic Universe.

Following the events of WandaVision, Wanda Maximoff is on a search for her lost children in what many assume to be the multiverse. With Doctor Strange trying to put everything back together, it’s no wonder that he would approach Wanda for a way to also right the wrongs that was done to her. With the Doctor Strange 2 promotion heavily featuring her as well, it’s a very good sign that this film is going to dive into uncharted territory.

Doctor Strange 2 is going to be relatively long, and rightfully so. The evil variant of Doctor Strange appeared in the trailer, and this leaves the door open for other characters returning, including Killmonger from the alternate universe as well as a potential “good-guy” Thanos from the Guardians of the Galaxy episode of What If…? The amount of ways this story can and will go makes sense for it’s longer runtime.

Marvel Studios has done a good job at turning a once lesser known character into the main protagonist. Doctor Strange is tasked with keeping the universe in check and alive, almost holding more responsibility than the Avengers themselves. As popular as Doctor Strange is becoming, he still has yet to get the other things that come with being a superhero, such as a video game. If the Guardians and the Suicide Squad can get video games, then so can the sorcerer supreme.

Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness is set for a May 4th, 2022, theatrical release.
